Paper Bags are made from renewable raw materials that have proven to be sustainable lifestyle choices in an ever-changing environment.

Like every year, World Paper Bag Day celebrations started this year.

The celebrations, which started on 12 July, will continue throughout the year with various events.

It is observed that awareness of the usage of paper bags has become widespread around the world. The theme of this year is “Destroy Plastic and Save the Earth”

Eco-friendly bags were first patented by American inventor Francis Wolle, who invented the first paper bag machine in 1852. Paper Bags are made from renewable raw materials that have proven to be sustainable lifestyle choices in an ever-changing environment because of their capabilities. It must be recycled and reused. Millions of people now prefer paper bags to plastic bags, and here’s why:

Biodegradable

Unlike plastic, paper bags are made from organic raw materials. The average single-use plastic bag can take 500-1000 years or more to degrade by light (they don’t degrade completely). Paper bags take a few weeks to a month to decompose.

Bonus Point: With your one-time purchase, the soil does not lose fertility and the animals do not die.

Saves marine life

Plastic bags are often thrown into landfills and eventually end up in puddles. Sea creatures release toxins and microplastics (plastic pieces smaller than five millimeters) that are particularly harmful as they can suffocate and restrict airflow and food intake, leading to death.

Energy-saving

Paper bags save a lot of energy in their production as most needed materials are available locally. It also saves huge import costs.

Nature friendly

Paper Bags follow the 3Rs. Not only does it reduce waste, but it can also be reused and recycled if used wisely.

Cheap

Paper bags are not only inexpensive but also more attractive. More and more brands are using paper bags for brand promotion these days.

Do you know?

Some paper bags are made from wood and can be recycled and made into new paper.

So the next time you go on a shopping spree, think twice before using plastic bags!
